The founding members of The South African Burn Association (SABA) are Dr Daan den Hollander (UKZN), Prof Andre Loubser (UOFS), Dr Maria Giaquinto-Cilliers (Northern Cape), Dr Samir Abbas (EC) and Dr Wayne Kleintjes (WC). Dr Wayne Kleintjes was selected to be president.

Provincial delegates represent SABA, including members like President Prof Elias Ndobe (Wits) and Kenny Segwape (SMU), who have also been appointed to the Board. Dr Leonie van Wyk is acting secretary, and Dr EP Kotzee has been appointed treasurer.

In 2022, Dr Peter Motale was appointed Honourable Member of SABA. SABA holds a National Conference annually in October in Cape Town, and all the members support and promote burn teaching within their local settings, usually in May, the burns awareness month. Dr Giaquinto-Cilliers retired, but Dr Willem Smith represents the Northern Cape.

SABA endorses an official journal, The South African Journal of Plastic Reconstructive Aesthetic Surgery and Burns (SAJPRASB).
